A Peaceful Hot Spring Retreat in Fukushima
Therapeutic Waters and Foot Baths
Tsuchiyu Onsen (土湯温泉郷), located in the mountains of Fukushima Prefecture, is famous for its healing hot springs that have been cherished for centuries. The mineral-rich waters are known to provide relaxation and rejuvenation for both the body and mind.
Visitors can enjoy the therapeutic benefits of the hot springs at various ryokan (traditional inns) and public baths. A unique feature of Tsuchiyu Onsen is the abundance of ashiyu (foot baths), allowing guests to relax and soak their feet while enjoying the surrounding natural beauty. These foot baths are a perfect way to experience the healing waters without fully immersing yourself.

Kokeshi Dolls: A Symbol of Local Craftsmanship
Tsuchiyu Onsen is also renowned for its Kokeshi dolls, a traditional craft of the region. These hand-carved wooden dolls are intricately decorated with vibrant patterns and floral designs, making them a popular souvenir for visitors. The dolls are not just beautiful; they are believed to bring good luck and blessings to their owners. Local artisans skillfully create these dolls, and they can be found in shops around Tsuchiyu Onsen, where visitors can purchase them as a memorable keepsake.
